Note: This guide belongs to the SIM Racing Phone Mount Dashboard that is available on Etsy.

In this guide we’ll show you how to construct your SIM Dashboard using the digital download files. In the example below the phone mount has been laminated with carbon fiber sheet material.

Overview of the components

Once you have cut all the files you will have the following components. From top to bottom they are:

  1. Front panel of the dashboard
  2. Rear cover of the dashboard
  3. Side and bottom components to hold the phone in place
  4. Base mount.

Detailed overview of the components

To fit the front panel to the rear panel I’m using 3mm nuts and bolts. The front panel with screws and a spacer. The front panel is held in place on the four corners.

Close-up of the screws and spacer used.

The rear panel has sockets to fit various sizes of phones.

The bottom components to hold your phone in place.

The holder to attach the dashboard to your Thrustmaster TX Servo Base.

Step 1: Fit your phone

In the first step we make sure that your phone is held in place.

Take the rear panel and place your phone on it…

…then fit your phone on the right and left side

Place the side components as tightly as possible size of your phone

Note: Do not fit the bottom component just yet!

Step 2: Fit the base holder

In the second step we’ll fit the bottom component and the base holder in place.

Align the base holder with one of the three sockets below the phone (depending on the size of your phone).

Fit the bottom component through the base holder and the rear panel.

Your phone should now be supported on three sides!

Step 3: Fit the front panel

In the last step we attach the front panel and use the screws to keep the construction in place.

First, fit the spacer (I’m using 10 mm or 12 mm, depending on the thickness of the phone) on both sides on the top of the panel.

Fix the spacer in place with a nut on the rear side of the panel.

Optionally you can use a spacer on the bottom as well to give the phone mount a more sturdy feel.

Next you want to fit the front panel. Make sure that you align the holes with your spacers.

Fix the front panel with bolts or screws. I’m using plastic bolts to not damage the material.

Tadaa! That’s it

You are done!

Enjoy racing! #letsgo!
